The pattern comes in two sizes so you can choose either the large or small gravestone depending on the size of the handmade card that you are creating.

As you can see in the preview image below, this is a simple little pattern so it’s perfect for iris folding beginners.

It’s pretty easy to cut out the shape as well, so this would be an ideal kids’ craft project.

For my sample card, I used an A6 card blank.

Usually when I’m iris folding I cut the aperture shape from a separate piece of card and then use that as a topper to stick onto the base card, but this time I did things differently.

I got some dark blue mulberry paper and stuck it to the top part of the card using tacky glue.

I love crafting with mulberry paper (also known as handmade paper) because it’s so easy to tear and it makes a lovely soft feathered edge when you rip it.

Next, I traced around the smaller headstone pattern on the INSIDE of my card, then cut it out using my favourite cutting tool.

I could then complete the iris folding using silver matte-effect paper.

To add some context to the pattern and make it look like the headstone was sitting in an abandoned graveyard, I tore up pieces of green mulberry paper and stuck them in front of the folded design.

Some silver peel-off stickers to spell RIP on the gravestone and I was nearly finished!

All I needed was a “Happy Halloween” sentiment, which I pinched from the Halloween Vampire pyramage project that I posted a couple of days ago.

And there you have it… a finished Halloween headstone greetings card!

Happy crafting,
Sarah x
