It’s Day 16 of my “Crafty Advent Calendar” where I’m revealing one new FREE craft printable every day for 25 days.

Today we are celebrating the true meaning of Christmas with this Nativity themed craft project.

This book-shaped decoupage shows a vintage painting image of a Nativity scene.

Make a handmade Christmas nativity book decoupage card

Step 1: Print the craft sheet

Print the nativity scene book card craft sheet onto photo paper or card.

I use Crafty Bob Glossy Paper which is a special type of paper designed for greetings cards and crafts.

I like to use this paper because the printer ink dries instantly and is smudge-proof straight after printing, so you can use the printed sheet straight away.

If you aren’t a fan of the glossy shiny look to your printouts then the paper is available in matte too.

Step 2: Cut out the elements

Cut out all the parts of the sheet.

This is a nice easy handmade card to make because the pieces are all fairly large and easy to cut out.

Step 3: Cut & attach the background paper

Cut a piece of Christmas background paper to approx. 6.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall.

Turn your 5×7 inch card blank landscape and stick the backing paper in the center using double sided tape.

Step 4: Decorate with gold peel-off stickers

Add gold border peel-off stickers to the edge of the backing paper.

Step 5: Add peel-off stickers to the top book layer

Select the top orange layer of the book decoupage and add some gold-peel off sentiment stickers.

Mine says “Merry Christmas” and I also added a gift and holly sticker.

It’s much easier to add the peel-offs at this stage rather than once all of your decoupage layers have been added.

Step 6: Attach the base layer of the book decoupage

Select the largest book decoupage layer and stick it to your card using double sided tape.

I stick mine on at a big of an angle so that it filled the space better (and also because I’m not very good at lining things up to be perfectly straight 🙂 )

Step 7: Build the decoupage layers

Add 3D foam pads to the backs of all the decoupage shape cutouts.

Stick them onto the card front in size order, with the largest first.

This creates a 3D effect to your card which really helps to give depth to the book-shaped design.
